Cleaning Stainless Steel

Hey everyone! Just a quick blog post to answer a question we hear a lot.

We frequently get asked what is the best way to clean stainless steel. These days most kitchens have at least one stainless steel appliance, usually the microwave or fridge.

Stainless steel isn’t too hard to clean, but it is very easy to clean it incorrectly. The wrong technique or materials can leave the surfaces full of scratches.

Stainless Steel Cleaner does exist, but we really only recommend that if the surface needs a re-polish of if there are heavy stains that just won’t come out.

The number one rule is to never use paper towel or anything similar. This can leave scratches all over the surface. Instead, use a cloth.

Along with your cloth, dish washing detergent, or even just plain water should be used to clean the surface. When wiping, try to avoid circular motions or irregular swipes as this can also lead to scratching. You want to always go in the same direction, keeping with the “grain” of the stainless steel if it is visible.

Once you are done cleaning the surface, go over it with a dry cloth to pick up any excess water spots. It should look good as new.

If you decide to use us to clean your house, remember that we will make sure to clean these surfaces the safest way possible to avoid any scratching or damage.
We hope you have a great week!
